Happy 2016 to the wonderful readers of Accessories Gal.  This last year has been an amazing one.  I was truly blessed to marry my best friend and partner in crime.  Had amazing success with my brand E.Kammeyer Accessories.  And was surrounded by wonderful friends and family.

It’s around this time of year that I always reflect on what went well in the previous year as well as what I could do better, how I can be a better friend, grow my business and my brand, as well as as a person.  I didn’t make any grand goals, except my husband and I created a challenge for January.  No TV at home.  Yes people, I said no TV.  I found myself using it as a crutch when I was bored, sad, feeling uninspired.  It was filling a whole that instead should have been filled with more time with friends, more time being creative and working and more time just talking with the people in my life.  So far I’ve found myself much more productive, much happier in my new marriage and spending more time with friends.  So far so good!

Adding a Little Glitter & Glam To Your Everyday Outfits

As the new year begins I wanted to give you a little dose of closet inspiration.  This simple yet sparkly outfit is one that you can rock your entire day.  No need to run home after work to grab cocktails with your favorite ladies.  It’s all about great basics.  The perfect black jeans, blazer and basic tee.  2016 is a chance to throw away those old worn out basics and invest in fresh new ones that make you feel great.  Throw a great statement shoe and sassy clutch with the outfit and you’re ready to go.   Oh and a few E.Kammeyer tassel bracelets never hurt.

What are your New Years resolutions?  If you’re not the resolution kinda gal, what are you hoping to get out of 2016?  Go big!

Fall Dressing

It’s hard to believe that it’s Fall.  Maybe it’s the 70 degree days we’ve been having in NYC or the fact that I’ve been married almost 6 months.  Time is flying!  Fall is one of my favorite times in New York.  The weather is made for layering and creating multi-dimensional outfits.  Running along the west side highway is heaven and my beautiful West Village is full of fall foliage and reminders of the season.

One of my favorite parts of my day  is biking the streets of New York to The Garment District.  Many have picked me out on my bike thanks to my 5″ heels and union jack helmet.  These two items are most definitely wardrobe staples.  Things get a little sticky when there’s a skirt or dress involved, of course.  The number of times I’ve inadvertently flashed people biking up 6th avenue is endless.

What I needed was something cute, seamless and could be worn under any outfit.  Even if you aren’t a lady that bikes everyday, you’re most likely one that hikes up those steep subway stairs, walks over sidewalk grates or is just on the move everyday.  Scroll to the bottom to take a peak at my new favorite accessory, lace undershorts from harMonica!

xoxo, Emily

Outfit Layering 101

NYFW-FW15-01-2
Outfit Layering 101

Hold your horses people, it’s not spring yet!  You may have thought it was right around the corner as I did a few days ago…and then winter reared it’s ugly head!  I am dying for the days when I ride my bike to the garment district every day without a coat.  But seeing as we’re not quite there yet, let’s talk layers.  Layering is by far the easiest way to transition into spring.  What I love most about it is it’s the perfect way to mix textures, colors and add interest.  Additionally it’s easy to mix high and low items into one outfit.

This season I was rocking my favorite vintage cape from Bergdorf Goodman’s .  A great cape is an investment every girl should make.  Now I know, us fashion girls love to drape our coats over our shoulder instead of putting our arms into our sleeves, but a cape does that for you…without all that worry that your coat is going to fall off.

This outfit was one of my fave fashion week looks.  The layering technique I really adopted this season was taking a scarf, crossing it across my body and wrapping a belt around my waist.  It adds great texture and interest to any outfit.  Additionally it adds a whole layer of warmth!  This look can easily transition into spring with a silk scarf as well!  Add your favorite knee high boot and a great pop color bag, and you’re all put together!

What is your favorite layering technique this fall/winter or spring/summer?  I would love to hear how you add your own dash of personality to your style!

xoxo

Emily

NYFW Style Day 2

Emily_Kammeyer_is_seen_outside_the_Marissa_Webb_show_wearing_a..._News_Photo___Getty_Images-5

Welcome to day 2 of NYFW!  Otherwise known as the snow continued and so did the shows!  Now let’s be honest, fashion week is a blast but it’s not so nice on the feet.  This season I started getting sensible early.  And by sensible i mean a great sneaker.  I do still love my Isabel Marant wedge sneakers.  On top of that I figured it would be a day of freezing cold and questionable hair by EOD, so why not throw on a fabulous hat and make it a statement!  I’m totally obsessed with this Eugenia Kim hat, and dresses it up a bit by throwing my favorite E.Kammeyer Accessories birdcage veil underneath!

Being comfy and stylish is how I make sure I’ll be happy all day long.  Here are a few of my favorite fashion week necessities:

1. Jackery Portable Charger– total life saver when your phone dies and you don’t want to be tethered to an outlet

2. bareMinerals lip gloss– keeps your lips from drying out with the perfect pop of color.

3. Kind Bars– Simple, nutritious, and yummy!  Great fuel!

4. Christian Lacroix Notebook–  I always carry a notebook with me to sketch, take notes and keep inspiration.

So cheers to staying warm, dry, stylish and fully charged!

NYFW Fall 2015 Day 1

nyfw day 1 updated

Happy Fashion Week to all!  And to all a warm week!  It’s that time a year when the fashion crowd gets dressed up in their finest, craziest, most photo-worthy garb and hits the streets.  The major difference this season – the cold is no joke and I’ve been doing my best to bundle up yet still look chic.

This season is a little different as well for one other major reason.  This is the final season at Lincoln Center.  Now, I say this with mixed emotions.  Lincoln Center is beautiful and has a square just made for street-style peacocking.  But with so many designers choosing to show at Milk and Art Beam downtown as well as a multitude of other venues, it leaves those of us without drivers hauling ourselves all around town via subway, taxi, Uber and even CitiBike.  Oh yes, I’ve Citi Biked all the way from Columbus Circle to Milk Studios on 15th st. in heels, my friends.

Day 1 I decided to go for a quirky mix of color, texture and function.  I love a great top coat and this wardrobe staple has lasted me through a few seasons.  It also paired in a fun, slightly mix-and-match way with my floral Etoile Isabel Marant corduroy overalls.  Overalls have made a big come back this year, plus these beauties work double-duty and the bib buttons off.  Mixed with a great pair of menswear inspired shoes, a minimal chic bag and an armful of tassels, you’re ready to go!

Wine Tasting Style In Napa Continued

IMG_2323Wine Tasting Style In Napa

Now that we’ve talked about my top 10 Napa wineries last week, it’s time to get to food and beauty.  Next to New York City, Napa is one of my favorite food destinations.  And this trip I was exceptionally lucky to have the chance to dine at Thomas Keller’s The French Laundry.  French Laundry is known by many as the best restaurant in the world and I will admit, I’m pretty sure it is.  The service was spot on, the decor was beautiful and chic and the food was possibly life changing.  Trevor and I had such an exceptional meal though that we most definitely over ate.  At about course number 8 Trevor looked at me and said, “If one more course comes out, I’m going to get angry.”  Needless to say I had to be rolled home.

If you’re heading to Napa, here are my top 5 restaurants to eat at:

1. The French Laundry

2. Etoile at Domaine Chandon

3. Redd Wood

4. Gott’s Roadside

5. Bouchon Bistro

After all that food, it’s time for a bit of relaxation and rejuvenation.  The afternoon before The French Laundry we decided to head to Indian Springs in Calistoga.  I highly suggest taking an afternoon and doing a mud bath/massage/facial combo.  It’s the perfect bit of detox, relaxation and beautifying.

On an absolutely perfect day I spent the afternoon with my lovely family at The Met.  I adore The Met.  It’s one of those magical New York Landmarks where I get lost for hours.  The roof at The Met is a fabulous place.  And every year there is a new art installation.  This year the instillation is by Dan Graham with Gunther Vogt.  Its the perfect place to meet friends on the weekend to have a cocktail in the sun and relax then meander threw the museum and soak in the art.

Spain Travel Style

Spain Chic Dressing

This summer has felt like the summer of travel!  Now, I’m not complaining as traveling is one of my favorite hobbies.  There’s nothing better than getting lost in a new city.  This time we were in Santander, Spain.  I love Spain!  They eat dinner starting at 11pm, stay out all night, wake up late, and are some of the most wonderful, vibrant people I’ve ever met.  A few days in the beautiful coastal town was just not enough.  So if you have the chance to travel here, these are my top 5 things you must do while there. 1) Eat dinner at La Bombi 2) Have a looooooong lunch with friends at a water front restaurant (order lots of wine). 3) Go check out my favorite new store: Bimba Y Lola.  4) Go Sailing! 5) Wander the city streets and soak up the beauty and drink in a square!

XOXO Emily

Easy Paris Style

IMG_5648

While in Paris my fiance and I were on serious wedding planning duty.  As we’re getting married about an hour outside of Paris we were florist hunting on this particular day.  Needless to say by the beautiful bouquet this particular florist sent us home with, this may be the guy!  I can’t think of a better way to spend the afternoon than looking at beautiful flowers and walking through the amazing parks of Paris.  The look was easy Paris style, something chic and walking friendly!

Airy Chic Dressing- Travel Style

airy chic dressing

Now don’t get me wrong, I was very excited about the sun in The Rivera Maya but with the sun comes some serious heat!  The heat definitely called for some airy chic dressing.  Add a dash of distressed denim and wedge Louboutin espadrilles along with one of Charlotte Olympia’s cheeky lucite clutches and you have the perfect vacation look!
