The snow was calling. A little time in the woods with amazing people, adventure and inspiring conversations was exactly what I needed. My husband and I recently traveled to Powder Mountain in Utah to spend some time with the Summit Community. We were honored to be welcomed with open arms for a weekend full of inspiring conversations about global change, worldly adventures and growth.
Surrounded by amazing scenery for 5 days we recharged our batteries, disconnected from our never ending emails and immersed ourselves in what makes Summit amazing, the people, the conversations, and oh yeah, the food. In between inspiring talks (think TED talks), workshops and amazing farm to table meals, we hit the slopes.
Both my husband and I are absolute adventure junkies and Powder Mountain provided endless fluffy powder, wide open trails and some bad ass black diamond runs. We spent a few days learning the mountain and carving our own path. We were blessed though on our last day to meet an amazing guy from the Summit community that knew the mountain like the back of his hand. As we skied up and down the mountain, across traverses, through chairlifts I didn’t know existed, he showed us a side of the mountain we never would have found. One that was wide open, steep, and full of fresh, un-groomed powder like I’ve never experienced it. And the best part, after every amazing run, a snow cat would pick us up to take us right back up to the top of the run, and round and round we went, all day long.
To say we had an epic time would be an understatement. So here’s a little look at the beautiful scenery and my ski outfit day one (yes the hat came off and a helmut went on). Oh and just a little side note for all those runners out there, the trail running in Utah is epic. But these New York City lungs were a little unprepared : ).
