Sulwhasoo – Beauty Like You’ve Never Experienced It Before

I fully admit I try my best to take care of my skin. I have a regimen that I follow every morning and every evening. But the fact that I run outside all winter long tends to wreck havoc on my skin and suck any moisturizer I apply right out! I’ve been through a lot with my skin and even went on Accutane about 4 years ago, talk about dry skin. My friend Deborah, whom I met a few years ago through the beauty industry now works for a line called Sulwhasoo that is very different from most lines I’ve used in the past. I was intrigued by the ingredients in their line, such as: Korean red ginseng, red pine, and East Indian lotus. Deborah offered me the opportunity to try out a Sulwhasoo facial and it seemed like the perfect time to put my skin in check.

The facial is different from most, it’s a more holistic approach that incorporates traditional eastern elements. The Sulwhasoo facial practice works to address the root cause of any imbalance with ancient Korean herbal ingredients. There was no steam or extractions, but instead Emily (my facialist), practiced advanced facial massage techniques paired with acupressure. I was a bit skeptical at first about a facial that was so different from what I believed to be the norm. I’ve become quite used to the traditional facial that pairs steam with extractions and other things that leave me walking out with a blotchy face. Sulwhasoo does neither of those things. To be honest I didn’t miss them one bit and instead found the acupressure was one of my favorite parts of the facial.

The other highlight was something everyone is talking about, or at least it feels like it on the beauty blogs, fabric face masks. Sulwhasoo just launched a brand new one called the Snowise EX Brightening Mask. As part of the treatment I was able to try this brand new, not even released yet, mask that was so simple you can do it at home, and you should. The cloth mask comes with all of the ingredients already applied, all you do is put it on and wait 20 minutes. The mask is intended to minimize dark spots, promote the skin’s natural circulation and prevent inflammation. All I will say is there were some pesky acne marks on my face that were for the most part completely gone and had faded from my face overnight.

After spending an hour being pampered, Deborah (business manager) took the time to walk me through the collection. Sulwhasoo is very process oriented and requires multiple steps. If you are a one product wonder, this may not be the line for you. But if you love skin care products and are looking for something that may make a dramatic difference for your skin, I highly suggest trying it out.

Over the last 3 weeks since my facial I have been testing out a set of products Deborah suggested. The products comprise a 4-step system. First cleanse, second the first care serum, third you combine equal parts balancing water and balancing emulsion (it’s a lotion of sorts), finally you apply the ginseng face cream.

On top of that I’ve also been testing out their ginseng oil, which I apply before going out for a cold winter’s day run. All in all I have been absolutely in love with the products. I especially love the combination of the balancing water and balancing emulsion. When you apply it to your face its silky and fragrant and feeling perfectly luxurious. Additionally, applying the ginseng oil to my face before going out for a run has made a major difference in the moisture level of my skin.

If you would like to check out any of these products and the rest of the line head over to Bergdorf Goodman and go to the Sulwhasoo counter. Deborah is lovely and welcoming and will show you around their fabulous line.
