Happy 2016 to the wonderful readers of Accessories Gal.  This last year has been an amazing one.  I was truly blessed to marry my best friend and partner in crime.  Had amazing success with my brand E.Kammeyer Accessories.  And was surrounded by wonderful friends and family.

It’s around this time of year that I always reflect on what went well in the previous year as well as what I could do better, how I can be a better friend, grow my business and my brand, as well as as a person.  I didn’t make any grand goals, except my husband and I created a challenge for January.  No TV at home.  Yes people, I said no TV.  I found myself using it as a crutch when I was bored, sad, feeling uninspired.  It was filling a whole that instead should have been filled with more time with friends, more time being creative and working and more time just talking with the people in my life.  So far I’ve found myself much more productive, much happier in my new marriage and spending more time with friends.  So far so good!

Adding a Little Glitter & Glam To Your Everyday Outfits

As the new year begins I wanted to give you a little dose of closet inspiration.  This simple yet sparkly outfit is one that you can rock your entire day.  No need to run home after work to grab cocktails with your favorite ladies.  It’s all about great basics.  The perfect black jeans, blazer and basic tee.  2016 is a chance to throw away those old worn out basics and invest in fresh new ones that make you feel great.  Throw a great statement shoe and sassy clutch with the outfit and you’re ready to go.   Oh and a few E.Kammeyer tassel bracelets never hurt.

What are your New Years resolutions?  If you’re not the resolution kinda gal, what are you hoping to get out of 2016?  Go big!

Designer Spotlight: Colette Malouf

Colette Malouf is a household name in the hair accessories world.  She’s been in the business since 1987 and knows how to create one of a kind, beautiful hair accessories that bring your outfit game to a whole new level.  Well this Fall ’15 collection is no different.  What I’m truly loving is how she is bringing her jewelry and hair accessories into one world.  They play off each other in the perfect way.

Colette’s Fall ’15 collection finds influence in the duality of androgyny: how a woman explores her masculine side through her femininity.  “Steel Grace” encourages women to explore their power and express both their masculine and feminine sides.  Contrasting elements such as rigid and fluid, structured and random, industrial and artistic are seen in this collection.  I love and relate to this concept perfectly.  I often find myself pulling menswear styling into my wardrobe and love the play on male vs. female dressing.  Annie Hall and Chanel brought us effortless menswear in ways women truly related to.  Colette is bringing this concept to a new age.

Colette’s free form shapes and manipulation of metal are what created the most interest for me.  Her “Maneframe” square headbands are like nothing I’ve ever seen.  She effortlessly takes an item we think that we know and tweaks it perfectly.  Same goes for her Highline and Scribble jewelry collections.  Asymmetrical and fluid shapes can be found in the beautiful Highline collection.  I can vividly see in my mind the old train tracks along the Highline, now turned into beautiful flowers beds as the inspiration for the two-finger rings, hand chains, ear bars and more.

The Scribble collection is so quintessentially New York to me.  It immediately transports me to The MOMA.  It’s beautiful and modern and oh so NYC.

All of these beautiful pieces are works of art.  Meant to be worn for years and cherished.  Scroll below for your fall accessories shopping.

Guest Blog Post For Poshmark

I’m very excited to announce I am a guest blogger for the Poshmark Blog this week.  Poshmark is a wonderful mobil app marketplace where you can sell your new and used women’s clothing and accessories.  I’ve been a member of Poshmark for the last 2 years and had the opportunity to be a guest speaker at their conference in San Francisco, CA last year.

My post this week for Posh is how to get wedding ready with @AccessoriesGal.  So please join me for a little wedding fun:

Hello fabulous ladies of Posh!  I am super excited to be the host of tonight’s Downtown Glam Posh Party and would love to tell you a bit about myself. I am one of those crazy people who chooses to live on the island of Manhattan. I schlep my groceries, walk miles every day, hear sirens at all times of the day, and navigate traffic. But on the other hand, New York is one of the most amazing and creative places on earth. I wouldn’t have started my business, E.Kammeyer Accessories, had I not been here, nor met my husband.

Yes, I am recently married and when I was chatting with the amazing women at Posh, they asked me to share a bit of my wedding wisdom with you. So here it goes!

My top 5 tips to get wedding ready:

1. Make a workout schedule.  How intense the schedule is up to you. Now, most people would consider me a maniac when it comes to fitness, especially my husband. So when it came down to my wedding, I wanted to make sure it looked as toned as I could. I chose to hire a trainer, Andrea from purefitlosophy.com, who I worked out with twice a week, and who created my entire workout schedule up until the wedding for me. This included working out 7-9 times a week. I’m not going to lie, it was a lot, but worth it in the end. Not everyone needs to go this nuts though. My suggestion is find a plan you can follow and feel confident in.11425243_656392085796_3045904496233090599_n

2. Get serious about your skincare.  I got facials once a month for the six months leading up to the wedding from VMV Hypoallergenics in NYC. Additionally, I created a daily skin care regimen that I followed from Juice Beauty. For more details on my regimen, check AccessoriesGal.com next week for my post on wedding skincare.

3. Start hunting for your bridesmaids gifts, groom’s gift, etc. I chose to give my bridesmaids a few cute little items. Each received a piece of jewelry I picked out for each individual, a clutch with a cute little french phrase (our wedding was in France), and heart sunglasses. A great place to find bridemaids gifts is Poshmark!  There are tons of closets that are bursting at the seams with cute gift ideas.
